GENERAL BLOODWORK
Not sure what your lab test is for? Here’s a simple guide to some commonly ordered blood tests.
CBC — Complete Blood Count
Checks the different cells in your blood, including red blood cells, white blood cells, hemoglobin, and platelets. A CBC provides information that may help identify abnormalities such as anemia or signs of infection.
CMP — Comprehensive Metabolic Panel
Provides information about several areas of the body, including liver and kidney function, blood sugar, electrolytes, and protein levels.
Lipid Panel — Cholesterol Test
Measures cholesterol and fats in the blood, typically including total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, and triglycerides. These results provide information related to cardiovascular health.
A1C — Hemoglobin A1C
Measures your average blood sugar level over approximately the past 2–3 months. A1C testing is commonly used in screening and monitoring for prediabetes and diabetes.
TSH — Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone
Measures TSH in the blood to provide information about thyroid function.
Vitamin D — 25-Hydroxy Vitamin D
